7:05am- crew will load up manhole sections and haul to the bottom first thing.
7:20am- Iowa Trenchless is back running this morning getting auger hooked up to the power unit.
...and survey crew is back taking shots on the tracks.
8:40am- crew now digging to lay pipe.
9:55am- no pipe laid yet and more rock needs broke out.
10:55am- after about 25’ of casing being in, the crew has stopped and is now inside casing “steering” it with the wedges built onto the cutting head by adjusting bolts that pull or push the wedges accordingly.
12:00pm- two joints now in for today so far. Rock breaking still occurring.
1:30pm- still in rock!
3:00pm- 3rd joint now in as backfill is underway again today.
4:20pm- hose has blown on the hammer.
Backfill at this point with only 42’ of 27” sdr35 laid today.
5:00pm- boring contractor has achieved approximately 35’ of casing so far. They will get all but last two feet in tonight where they can weld another 20’ piece on in the morning.
They use a type of water column to see about where the top of the bit is as far as elevation goes. There is a small pipe atop the casing that they pump water through and then check the water column height.
Flat Creek will not be working tomorrow, but blasters and boring companies are.
